Attorney Russell Z. Asti joined the firm of Helms Robison, Lee & Bennett January 1, 2018. He received his law degree from The University of Memphis in 1974. Prior to law school he received his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University in 1971, majoring in Political Science. His practice with the firm concentrates in residential and commercial real estate law.
After graduation from Wake Forest he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Army and was in the inactive reserves until 1974 when he served active duty for training for brief time.
He practiced with the Firm of Blackwell, Walker Powers, Flick & Hoehl, in Miami, Florida where his practice concentrated in civil litigation matters until moving to Monroe in 1978. Upon being admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1978, he practiced with the firm of Haynes, Baucom, Chandler, Claytor & Benton in Charlotte, North Carolina, handling insurance defense litigation matters as well as real estate matters. He established a private practice in Monroe in 1981 where he handled, criminal, domestic, civil litigation and real estate matters. Russ has concentrated his practice in real estate law since 1994.
He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the Florida Bar and has be admitted to practice in the courts of those states, United States District Courts for the Western District of North Carolina, and the Southern District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association (Real Property Section), Real Estate Lawyers of North Carolina, and the Union County Bar Association. He is the Chairman of the City of Monroe Planning Board.
Russ grew up in Miami, Florida, and has resided in Monroe with his wife, Martha since 1978.
